The Macclesfield Softball Club was formed in 1978 by Mrs. Voila Lowe and Mrs. Pam Hoffrichter. The first team was called the Ladybugs because of the red and black colours of Macclesfield. President/Coach Mrs. Maxine Taylor Secretary/Treasurer Mrs. Voila Lowe Manager Mrs. Voila Lowe Scorer Mrs. Pam Hoffrichter First team consisted of Sandra Drummond (Captain) Kay Lowe (Vice Captain) Prudence Calaby Andrea Jarman Sharon Hesketh Susan Jenkins Lyndall Hopgood Kathryn McFee Robyn Hopgood Lynette Meehan Tracey Hopgood Trudi Wright All matches were played at Mt. Barker High School with the Hills Softball Association. Six of the girls represented the Association at various carnivals. Kay Lowe won Association C grade Best & Fairest runner-up for the 1978-79 season. The Hills Softball Association is still going with teams from Mt. Barker, Macclesfield, Strathalbyn, Bridgewater, Hahndorf, Murray Bridge, Stirling/Aldgate and Adelaide University. Women’s, Men’s, Under 16 & 14 Boys & Girls T-Ball are now played at Anembo Park in Littlehampton.
